This model is discontinued

AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X25 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X25 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25 is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X25 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.

About the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25

A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP63X25 uses shop air to extend its 16 mm rod while an internal spring pulls it back to the retracted home position - only one air line is needed, and 0.2 MPa is the minimum pressure that overcomes the spring. At the working pressure of 0.5 MPa it delivers 1420.5 N of push force net of the spring, rising to 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into cramped welding jigs and press fixtures a full-length body cannot reach.

For sizing, treat about 852 N (roughly 60% of the 0.5 MPa rating) as the usable working force, which corresponds to lifting around 43 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin - enough for a small die or fixture lid. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and the 16 mm S45C hard-chrome rod ends in a female M10x1.5 thread. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production successor is the ASE63X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X25 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

Theoretical Output Force (Ø63mm)

PressurePush force (spring return)

0.7 MPa2044.0 N

Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.

Where the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25 Is Used

compress

Fixture clamping on a CNC milling table

The 1420.5 N net push at 0.5 MPa clamps aluminium brackets against a hard stop, and the spring retracts the clamp automatically the moment air is dumped - a fail-safe release for operator changeovers.

conveyor_belt

Reject pusher on a bottling line

A 25 mm stroke is enough to kick an underfilled bottle off a 100 mm conveyor, and the short body fits inside the guard channel where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would be twice as long.

factory

Lid lift on a small paint-mixing station

With roughly 43 kg of vertical lift capacity at a 2:1 margin, the cylinder raises a stainless mixing-vat lid, and the spring lowers it safely if the plant loses air.

Replacing the Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25 with the ASE63X25

At 63 mm bore this sits in the mid-force band: step down to the 50 mm bore (875.5 N at 0.5 MPa) for lighter clamping, or up to the 80 mm bore (2316.2 N) when a heavier die or gate must be pushed. Because the spring drives the rod home on air loss, the cylinder always parks retracted and cannot hold a mid-stroke position - pick the double-acting ACE if you need to stop anywhere in the stroke. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, and if you want CMSE or DMSE switches remember the magnet is the optional -S code, not a default. Order the ASE63X25 as the drop-in replacement for this discontinued model.

Replacement checklist

  • ✓ Current-production ACE → ASE63X25
  • ✓ Same bore / stroke / force class
  • ✓ Confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions
  • ✓ Port/thread type (PT / G)
  • ✓ Add -S for magnet if you need sensors

Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25 FAQ

Net of the return spring it pushes with 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, air filtered to 40 um, speed 50-500 mm/s, and a temperature window of -20 to +70 C. The 63 mm bore drives a 16 mm rod through a 1/8" PT port, with a female M10x1.5 rod thread on this version.

Order the ASE63X25, the ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 63 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a short compact body. Because the ASP was built to a DIN-standard compact format, verify the ISO 21287 mounting hole pattern and overall length against your fixture before the swap, and confirm remaining details from the datasheet.
