This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X25B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X25B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25B is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X25B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP63X25B extends its 16 mm rod with air and retracts it on the built-in spring, needing only one air line and a minimum of 0.2 MPa to beat the spring. In the 63 mm bore class it delivers 1420.5 N of push at 0.5 MPa (2044 N at 0.7 MPa), figures already net of the return spring. The B code gives a male rod thread, and the 1/8" port depends only on the bore.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, guards and gantries. As a planning figure, treat about 852 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as usable work, which means this cylinder lifts roughly 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE63X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X25B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa holds steel brackets against a jig during manual tack welding, and the spring retracts the 16 mm rod the instant the valve vents.
A short 25 mm stroke is enough to push folded cartons off a packaging chute, with the spring return clearing the path for the next box without a second valve.
Light-duty pin pressing on an assembly bench uses the male rod thread to pick up a pressing tip, with about 852 N of practical work force at 0.5 MPa.
Size by force: if 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than your job needs, the bore 50 version gives 875.5 N; if you need more headroom, bore 80 reaches 2316.2 N. Remember that on air loss the spring drives the rod home to the retracted position - it will not hold a mid-stroke load. The male rod thread (B code) suits rod knuckles and external couplers; order the -S code if you want the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, because without it no magnet is fitted. This model is discontinued - specify the ASE63X25 as the current replacement and verify the mounting footprint against the ISO 21287 dimensions.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. It is single acting: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it, so only one air line is needed. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C, and speed 50-500 mm/s. The 63 mm bore has a 16 mm rod, a 1/8" PT port and a male rod thread (B code).
Order the ASE63X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 63 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a short compact body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since this model follows the DIN-standard compact layout. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets are available on the replacement.
