This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X25S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25S is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP63X25S uses air to extend the rod and an internal spring to retract it, so one air line is all the machine needs. At 0.5 MPa this 63 mm bore delivers 1420.5 N of push force already net of the spring, and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. The -S code means the magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke signalling.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287 compact format, saving roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - useful in cramped jigs and guarding. In practice, plan on about 852 N (roughly 60% of the 0.5 MPa rating) for real work, which lifts about 43 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE63X25, and buyers should confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X25S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats rubber gaskets into automotive door frames, with the spring retracting the platen the moment the valve exhausts.
A short 25 mm stroke and about 852 N of practical force kicks filled cartons sideways off a conveyor lane; the fitted magnet drives a CMSE switch to confirm each kick.
Air pressure latches an interlocked guard door shut; if air is lost the spring pulls the latch open to its home position, a fail-safe motion for safety circuits.
Size the bore against your load: a 50 mm bore gives 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to 80 mm raises it to 2316.2 N. If your fixture needs more than 852 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, the 63 mm bore is the right call. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss - it will not hold a mid-stroke position. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the fitted -S magnet pairs with CMSE / DMSE switches. For new projects, specify the ASE63X25 instead, as this ASP model is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
Push force is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with 0.2 MPa as the minimum needed to overcome the spring, and proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi). Speed range is 50-500 mm/s, the port is 1/8", the rod thread is female M10x1.5, and the fluid is air filtered to 40 um.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is built to the short ISO 21287 compact format, cutting about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end to soften end-of-travel. Because this model carries the -S option, CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches mount directly on the body. The ASP63X25S is discontinued, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and order the ASE63X25 as the current drop-in.
