This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X25SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the discontinued ASP63X25SB uses air to extend its 16 mm rod and a return spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing it needs. At 0.5 MPa the 63 mm bore delivers 1420.5 N of push, already net of the spring, rising to 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight machine frames and guarding where a full-length body will not fit. Because the S code is in this model, the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on for end-of-stroke signalling.
For sizing, treat about 852 N (roughly 87 kg) as the practical working push at 0.5 MPa, keeping a margin above the 1420.5 N rating; in vertical terms the rod can lift about 72 kg with a 2:1 margin. The male rod thread (B code) takes standard rod accessories directly, and the fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod at the ends of travel. This model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ASE63X25, same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X25SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa clamps machined aluminium housings in a milling fixture, and the spring retracts the clamp automatically the moment air is vented.
With about 87 kg of practical working push at 0.5 MPa, the 63 mm bore suits light staking, marking and riveting of small brackets over the 25 mm stroke.
The fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE or DMSE switches, so a packaging line can confirm the 25 mm ejection stroke completed before the next carton indexes.
Compare force classes before ordering: the 50 mm bore gives 875.5 N at 0.5 MPa, while the 80 mm bore steps up to 2316.2 N, so the 63 mm at 1420.5 N sits squarely in the middle for clamping and pressing jigs. Remember the spring returns the rod home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position, so plan external stops if you need intermediate positioning. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face family, and this unit already carries the -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches. Since the ASP is discontinued, order the ASE63X25 as the current replacement and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture.
Replacement checklist
Push is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa (28-145 psi overall range, proof 1.5 MPa / 215 psi), the port is 1/8" (PT), speed is 50-500 mm/s, and the fluid is air filtered to 40 um. Air extends the rod; the spring retracts it.
Order the ASE63X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 63 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before the swap, since the ASP follows the DIN-standard compact format.
