This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE20X10S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE20X10S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP20X10S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 10mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE20X10S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting, spring-extend pull cylinder, the ATP20X10S keeps its 20 mm bore and 10 mm stroke inside a short ISO 21287 style body that saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The spring holds the rod out; air between 0.2 MPa and 1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) retracts it, delivering 88.1 N of pull at 0.5 MPa and 135.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the spring. This S-coded unit carries the optional magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling.
In practice the 88.1 N rating converts to about 9 kgf, so plan on lifting roughly 4 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin, and treat about 53 N as the realistic working pull at 0.5 MPa. The hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod, fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends, and the female M6x1.0 rod thread plus PT ports keep plumbing simple. Note that ATP is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ATE20X10, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before you swap.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE20X10S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 88.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 135.2 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×10 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Springs the probe out of a microplate washer between cycles; the 88.1 N pull retracts it in 10 mm when the 0.2 MPa minimum air signal arrives.
On a small box erecting head, the spring-extended rod kicks a flap into position and air pulls it clear, with a DMSE switch confirming retraction.
Normally-extended sensing pin in a CNC jig drops 10 mm under air; the fitted magnet drives a CMSE switch so the PLC knows the pin seated.
At 20 mm bore you sit mid-range: the 16 mm bore pulls 53.3 N at 0.5 MPa while the 25 mm bore reaches 170.9 N, so step up only if your clamp or eject load exceeds about 53 N of real work. Keep strokes short - this pull type is meant for compact 10 mm moves at 50-500 mm/s, and on air loss the spring returns the rod to its extended home rather than holding a mid-stroke position. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face, and the fitted magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches when ordered with the -S code. For new builds, specify the ATE20X10 instead, as ATP is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
It pulls 88.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 135.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both net of the return spring, so no subtraction is needed. Air needs at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. As a rule of thumb keep real work near 53 N at 0.5 MPa, which is about 4 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Speed range is 50-500 mm/s and proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi).
Yes, the ATP family is out of production. Order the ATE20X10, the current ISO 21287 successor in the same 20 mm bore, 10 mm stroke and force class; just confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first since ATP was DIN-standard. The magnet on this unit came from the optional -S code, so on the ATE specify the equivalent S-suffixed model if you still need CMSE / DMSE switch position feedback.
