This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE20X20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE20X20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP20X20 is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 20mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE20X20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP20X20 uses an internal spring to hold the rod extended and compressed air at 0.2 MPa or higher to retract it. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 88.1 N of pull net of the spring, rising to 135.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The 20 mm bore takes a 10 mm rod with an M6x1.0 female thread and an M5x0.8 air port. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ATE20X20, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which makes the ATP20X20 easy to fit inside tight fixture plates and machine guards. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod at stroke ends. For positioning, order the -S code to add the optional magnet so CMSE or DMSE switches can be used; without -S there is no magnet. As a rule of thumb, plan on about 52 N of usable pull at 0.5 MPa, which vertically lifts roughly 5 kg with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE20X20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 88.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 135.2 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 88.1 N pull at 0.5 MPa retracts a small swing clamp or locator pin in a drilling fixture, with the spring restoring the extended home position the moment air is lost.
In a compact packaging head, the 20 mm stroke returns a light gate or shield; add the -S magnet and a CMSE switch to confirm the retracted end position.
A lab or test-rig probe holder uses the 135.2 N pull at 0.7 MPa to withdraw a small sampling probe between cycles inside a tight instrument enclosure.
Size the job first: if 88.1 N at 0.5 MPa is marginal, step up to the 25 mm bore (170.9 N pull at 0.5 MPa); if the load is light, the 16 mm bore (53.3 N) saves more space. Remember the spring returns the rod to its extended home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switch sensing. Order the ATE20X20 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa the ATP20X20 pulls 88.1 N and at 0.7 MPa it pulls 135.2 N, both figures already net of the return spring. It is a single acting pull cylinder: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it, needing at least 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring. Operating range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
No, the ATP20X20 is discontinued. The current-production replacement is the ATE20X20, made by swapping the P for an E; it matches the same bore, stroke and force class in the ISO 21287 compact family. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ATP follows a DIN-standard compact layout.
