This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE25X15S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE25X15S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X15S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 15mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE25X15S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
This is a single acting pull cylinder with spring return: the spring extends the rod and compressed air retracts it, so the ATP25X15S fails to its extended home position whenever air is lost. At 0.5 MPa it pulls 170.9 N net of the spring (253.3 N at 0.7 MPa), and it needs at least 0.2 MPa (28-145 psi operating band) to overcome the spring. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ATE25X15, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. Because the -S magnet is fitted, CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. A practical sizing check: about 103 N of real work is a sensible target at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 5 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ATE25X15 before swapping, since this DIN-standard unit has a different footprint.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE25X15S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 170.9 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 253.3 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
On a small electronics assembly head, the spring-extended rest position holds a vacuum cup clear of the PCB until air pulls the rod down to place a component weighing under 5 kg equivalent.
On a CNC jig, the normally-extended rod holds a swing-away clamp open; 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa retracts it only while air is applied, so a power failure leaves the fixture accessible.
On a packaging line reject chute, the fitted -S magnet drives a CMSE switch to confirm the rod has returned to its spring-extended home after each 15 mm pull cycle.
For a 15 mm pull stroke in a compact envelope, the 25 mm bore gives 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa. If your load is lighter, the 20 mm bore delivers 88.1 N at the same pressure; if heavier, step up to the 32 mm bore with 296.0 N. Remember the spring does not hold a mid-stroke position - on air loss the rod returns to extended. Mounting options include FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Order the ATE25X15 as the current drop-in successor.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting pull cylinder: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it. Pull force net of the return spring is 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa and 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and the port is M5x0.8 with a female M6x1.0 rod thread.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to standard faces. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be fitted. A fixed TPU bumper decelerates the rod at each end. Note the ATP25X15S is discontinued - order the ATE25X15 and confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
