About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X15SB
The ATP25X15SB is a single acting compact pull cylinder: an internal spring extends the 10 mm rod and compressed air retracts it, so the unit rests normally extended and fails to the extended position when air is lost. Pull force is 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa and 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring, and at least 0.2 MPa is needed to overcome the spring. The S code means the optional magnet is fitted on this model, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped to the hard-anodized aluminium body.
In practice, plan on roughly 102 N of usable pull at 0.5 MPa, which is about 8 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin - enough for small clamping caps, gate lids or lightweight slides in tight assemblies. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends decelerates the stroke. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ATE25X15 (same bore, stroke and force class), so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Size by pull, not push: this 25 mm bore gives 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa net of the spring. If your load needs less, the 20 mm bore (88.1 N at 0.5 MPa) saves space; if it needs more, step up to the 32 mm bore (296.0 N at 0.5 MPa). The 15 mm stroke suits short retraction moves only - single-acting pull strokes are short by design. The B code gives a male rod thread, the port is M5x0.8, and the fitted magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. Because the spring returns the rod on air loss, it will not hold a mid-stroke position. This model is discontinued; order the ATE25X15 as the current replacement and verify ISO 21287 mounting dimensions first.
