About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X20S
The ATP25X20S is a single acting pull cylinder with spring return: the internal spring extends the 10 mm rod and compressed air retracts it, so the unit rests normally extended and fails to the extended position if air is lost. At 0.5 MPa the net pull is 170.9 N (253.3 N at 0.7 MPa, already subtracting the spring), which gives a practical working figure of roughly 102 N, or about 10 kg of real vertical load, once you keep a margin below the rating. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke sensing.
This is a DIN-standard compact body in hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and its short build saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - handy inside tight jigs, guarding and gantries. Note that ATP25X20S is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ATE25X20 (swap the P for an E), same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
