This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE25X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE25X25S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X25S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 25mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE25X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Single acting pull cylinder with spring return: a spring extends the rod and compressed air retracts it, so the ATP25X25S rests normally extended and fails to the extended position when air is lost. This 25 mm bore unit pulls 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa (253.3 N at 0.7 MPa), figures already net of the return spring, with a 25 mm stroke and an M5x0.8 air port. It is discontinued - the current-production drop-in is the ATE25X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight jigs, guards and gantries a full-length cylinder cannot fit. Because this model carries the -S code, the magnet is fitted and CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke sensing. Practical sizing: plan on about 103 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, and expect roughly 8.7 kg of vertical lift capability with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE25X25S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 170.9 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 253.3 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring lifts a finished board clear of test pins the moment air drops, and the 170.9 N pull at 0.5 MPa retracts the fixture pin plate during the test cycle.
With the fitted -S magnet and a DMSE switch, the PLC confirms the 25 mm gate stroke each cycle; air pressure between 0.2 MPa and 1.0 MPa drives the retract.
The spring holds the arm retracted-free (extended) at rest, and air pulls it into the clamped position; the compact body fits the 25 mm slot beside the index drive.
Size between bores: the ATP16X25S pulls 53.3 N at 0.5 MPa, while the ATP32X25S reaches 296.0 N - pick the 25 mm bore when your clamp or return task sits near the 170.9 N class. Note the spring does not hold a mid-stroke position; on air loss the rod goes home extended. Female M6x1.0 rod thread, PT ports, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting keep fixture integration simple. For new designs, order the ATE25X25 instead, as this ATP model is out of production.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting pull cylinder: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it. Net pull is 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa and 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa, already after subtracting the return spring. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, air filtered to 40 um, temperature -20 to +70 C. Minimum 0.2 MPa is needed to overcome the spring.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. This -S model carries the magnet, so CMSE or DMSE switches can be fitted. Mounting choices are FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis. The model is discontinued; the ATE25X25 is the current drop-in - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before converting.
