This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE25X5 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE25X5 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP25X5 is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE25X5 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP25X5 keeps its 10 mm rod extended by a spring and retracts it with air, delivering 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa (253.3 N at 0.7 MPa) net of the spring. It needs only 0.2 MPa of air to overcome the spring, runs on air filtered to 40 um, and moves at 50-500 mm/s. The 5 mm stroke is a standard stroke for this 25 mm bore. This model is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ATE25X5 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, gates and clamping nests. For sizing, plan on roughly 102 N (about 10 kg of force) of real work at 0.5 MPa rather than the full 170.9 N rating, which equals lifting about 17 kg vertically, or around 8 kg with a 2:1 margin. The rod ends in a female M6x1.0 thread, the port is M5x0.8, and fixed TPU bumpers decelerate at both ends. No magnet is fitted on this code; order the -S variant if you need CMSE / DMSE switch sensing.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE25X5 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 170.9 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 253.3 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring pushes a formed 5 g clip out of a machining nest the moment air drops, while 170.9 N of air pull retracts the pin for the next cycle.
A spring-extended pin locks an electronics test lid closed by default; 5 mm of air pull releases it, and the -S magnet with a DMSE switch confirms the unlatched state.
On a packaging line check station, the probe stays extended into the product path at rest and pulls back 5 mm at 50-500 mm/s only while air is applied.
At 170.9 N pull at 0.5 MPa this bore sits between the 20 mm (88.1 N) and 32 mm (296.0 N) sizes: step down to ATP20X5 for lighter retracts, or up to ATP32X5 when you need nearly double the force. Remember the spring returns the rod to its extended home on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the standard face, and the optional -S magnet enables CMSE / DMSE switches. Before ordering, confirm the ATE25X5 replacement's ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, since this series is DIN-standard and discontinued.
Replacement checklist
It pulls with 170.9 N at 0.5 MPa and 253.3 N at 0.7 MPa, both net of the return spring, with 0.2 MPa the minimum to move the rod. Plan on about 102 N (roughly 10 kg of force) for real work at 0.5 MPa; that equals lifting about 17 kg vertically, or about 8 kg with a 2:1 margin. Stroke is 5 mm on a 25 mm bore with a 10 mm rod and M5x08 port - correction, M5x0.8 port - and speed is 50-500 mm/s.
Order the ATE25X5, the current-production ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 25 mm bore, 5 mm stroke and force class with a short body about 50% shorter than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Because the ATP series is DIN-standard, confirm the ATE's ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and your FA/FB, LB or CA/CB bracket fit before swapping.
