About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP50X5B
The ATP50X5B is a single acting pull cylinder with spring return: the built-in spring extends the 16 mm rod and compressed air retracts it, so the rod sits extended whenever air is lost. It needs only 0.2 MPa to overcome the spring, delivers 775 N of pull at 0.5 MPa (1127.5 N at 0.7 MPa, both net of the spring), and its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - ideal for a 5 mm clamp or eject stroke inside a tight fixture. The B code gives a male rod thread and the 1/8" port suits the 50 mm bore.
Plan on roughly 465 N (about 47 kg of pull) for real work at 0.5 MPa instead of the full 775 N rating, which means this bore comfortably retracts a loaded slide or lifts about 39 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and the -S magnet code is optional - without it no CMSE or DMSE switch can be fitted. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ATE50X5, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Replacing the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP50X5B with the ATE50X5B
At 775 N of pull at 0.5 MPa, the 50 mm bore sits between the 40 mm (500.3 N) and 63 mm (1320 N) versions - step down if your retraction load is under 450 N, step up if you need more than 800 N. The 5 mm stroke is well inside the standard range for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. If you must hold a mid-stroke position or resist backdriving, this spring-return pull type will not do it - pick a double acting ACP/ACE instead. Match FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounting to your fixture, order the -S code only if you need CMSE/DMSE switch feedback, and specify the ATE50X5 for new projects since the ATP is discontinued.
