About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP63X5B
The ATP63X5B is a single acting pull cylinder, DIN-standard compact type, with a 63 mm bore and a short 5 mm stroke. A spring extends the rod and compressed air retracts it, so the unit sits normally extended and fails to the extended position on air loss; 0.2 MPa is the minimum pressure needed to overcome the spring. Pull force is 1320 N at 0.5 MPa and 1903.2 N at 0.7 MPa, both already net of the return spring. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome 16 mm rod saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits shallow clamping pockets on packaging and assembly machinery.
This model is discontinued and is no longer in production; the current drop-in is the ATE63X5 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since this unit follows the DIN-standard footprint. Note there is no magnet fitted on this version, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be read off it unless you order the optional -S code instead. As a sizing rule of thumb, plan on about 792 N (0.6 of the 0.5 MPa pull) of real work, which lifts roughly 67 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
