The AirTAC Airtac MAJ Double Rod Adjustable Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MAJ25X25-30S is a genuine double acting, adjustable stroke standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service.
Setup tolerance is the selling point here: the MAJ25X25-30S is a double-acting mini cylinder whose extend stroke can be wound in by up to 30 mm with its external stop screw, so one actuator covers several part heights on the same fixture. The 25 mm bore delivers 245.3 N forward and 206.1 N back at 0.5 MPa, peaking at 343.4 N forward at 0.7 MPa.
Build quality matches the flexibility. A stainless round barrel is rolled onto aluminium covers around a hard-chrome 10 mm rod, so humidity and washdown cause little trouble. Fixed bumper pads soften stroke-end impact (deceleration only - this is not the cushioned MAC family). Feed it filtered air at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) at 30-800 mm/s, and count on about 12.5 kg of vertical lift capability once you keep a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC MA-series datasheet. Barrel: stainless-steel tube (round-body, riveted rolling-packed construction); piston rod: carbon steel with 20µm hard-chrome plating; covers: aluminium alloy. Thread options: PT (blank) / G / NPT. Every MA-series cylinder ships with a built-in magnet for CMSG / DMSG / EMSG position sensors.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 245 N | 206 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 344 N | 289 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 50 kgf | |
Actual usable force is lower than theoretical due to friction and back-pressure. Size with a safety margin.
| MAJ | Standard round-body mini cylinder (adjustable-stroke). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| -30 | Adjustable stroke window (mm the extend stroke can be shortened on site). |
| -S | Built-in magnet for CMSG / DMSG / EMSG sensors (standard on MA series). |
| CA / U / CM | Back-cover type: CA pivot, U flat-end, CM round-end. |
MA-family variants: MA / MAC (double acting ±cushion), MSA / MTA (single acting push / pull), MAD / MACD (double rod ±cushion), MAJ / MACJ (adjustable stroke ±cushion), MAR (cushioned with integrated F/U mount). Mounting accessories: FA flange, LB foot, SDB pivot; plus I and Y knuckles. Thread PT (blank) / G / NPT.
Bench-top leak tester where operators re-set clamping height for each product variant.
Steering small parts into totes of different depths on an order-picking line.
Seating stoppers on sample vials in a lab filler, with 30 mm of stroke adjustment for vial sizes.
If 245.3 N at 0.5 MPa feels tight for the job, step up to bore 32 (402.2 N) rather than running near the limit; if it is generous, bore 20 (157.0 N) may do the same work more cheaply. The stop screw is a mechanical extend end-stop only - on air loss the rod still drifts, so add a clamping element where position must hold. Mount via FA flange or LB foot, add an I or Y knuckle, and use the standard-fit magnet with CMSG / DMSG / EMSG switches for end-of-trim sensing.
Quick checklist
Extend stroke 25 mm adjustable by up to 30 mm via the stop screw; push 245.3 N and pull 206.1 N at 0.5 MPa; push 343.4 N at 0.7 MPa; 50 kgf theoretical maximum at 1.0 MPa. Port is 1/8", rod thread M10x1.25.
It is a fixed elastomer pad that absorbs the last of the travel to cut noise and wear. It cannot be tuned like the adjustable air cushion on the MAC family - for that function order MACJ instead.
