The AirTAC Airtac MGD Double Rod Mini Cylinder MGD32X100S is a genuine double acting, double rod JIS-standard round-body mini air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 100mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a SUS304 stainless-steel barrel with a hard-chrome-plated rod for reliable, mildly corrosion-resistant service.
The AirTAC MGD32X100S is a double acting, double-rod JIS mini cylinder with a 32 mm bore and 100 mm stroke. A 12 mm rod exits both covers with the same M10x1.25 male thread at each end, so the two rod ends move together and the output force is equal in both directions: about 345.6 N each way at 0.5 MPa and 483.8 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 70.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Because both sides of the piston see the rod-side area, there is no separate push and pull rating to juggle when sizing the load. The fitted magnet (the S code) allows CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches to be clamped directly on the stainless barrel for end-of-stroke signalling.
Construction follows the JIS round-body mini format: a SUS304 stainless barrel with riveted covers and hard-chrome plated rods that stand up to damp and washdown environments, with 1/8" ports on every bore in the series. A fixed anti-impact bumper pad softens the stroke ends without any adjustment. As a practical sizing note, halving the 0.5 MPa force gives a vertical lifting figure of roughly 17 kg, and keeping the working load near 0.6 of the rated force, about 21 kg, leaves a comfortable margin. Note that the cylinder does not hold position on air loss, so use an external rod lock or pilot check valve where a load must be held.

MG-family variants: MG / MGC (double acting ±cushion), MSG / MTG (single acting push / pull), MGD / MGCD (double rod ±cushion). Accessories: LB foot, FA flange, plus I and Y knuckles. Thread PT (blank) / G / NPT.
The through-rod resists rotation and side load, keeping a 100 mm slide stroke repeatable on small assembly fixtures where a single-rod cylinder would twist under offset loading.
With 345.6 N available at each rod end simultaneously at 0.5 MPa, one MGD32X100S can eject two parts or drive two tooling points from a single valve and port set.
The back rod end carries a stop or switch flag, and the fitted magnet accepts CMSG/DMSG/EMSG sensors, giving both electrical and mechanical stroke confirmation.
At 32 mm bore the MGD32X100S delivers 345.6 N in both directions, sitting between the 25 mm MGD (206.1 N) and the 40 mm MGD (527.8 N); step up to 40 mm if your load needs more than about 35 kgf per direction, or down to 25 mm if 206 N is enough. For bores of 50 or 63 mm, or if you need an adjustable variable cushion instead of the fixed bumper pad, move to the MGCD series; for a conventional single-rod cylinder, the MG series is the equivalent. Choose this double-rod model when you need anti-rotation behaviour, a rear rod end for a stop flag or a second load, or symmetric force both ways. Mounting is FA flange or LB foot, with I and Y rod knuckles available (no SDB/CB pivot on double-rod cylinders); the S in this model means the magnet is already fitted for CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches. The maximum standard stroke for this bore is 500 mm, and on long strokes support the rod to limit side load.
Quick checklist
Because the rod occupies both piston faces, force is equal both ways: 345.6 N at 0.5 MPa and 483.8 N at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical maximum of 70.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), temperature -20 to +70 C, speed 30-800 mm/s, and the fluid is air filtered to 40 um. Ports are 1/8" and the rod thread is M10x1.25 at both ends.
The MGD has a rod exiting both covers with the same M10x1.25 thread, so force is identical extending and retracting and the through-rod resists rotation; the single-rod MG has a larger extend force but a smaller return force. This S-suffix model has the magnet fitted, so CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches mount directly on the barrel. The fixed bumper pad only softens stroke ends; for an adjustable cushion see the MGCD.
