AirTAC Pneumatics
AirTAC ASE series single-acting, spring-return compact cylinders in 12-100mm bores for fail-safe retract in clamping and ejection.
inventory_2190 models availableThe AirTAC ASE is the single-acting, spring-return push version of the ISO 21287 ACE compact cylinder. Air extends the rod and an internal return spring retracts it, so the cylinder fails to its retracted home position on air loss. It shares the ACE's short hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, two-way seal, and fixed TPU bumper. The ASE is not a tie-rod or ISO 15552 cylinder.
Available in 10 bores from 12 to 100 mm with short strokes only: bore 12 up to 10 mm, bores 16-100 up to 25 mm. Ports are M5x0.8 for bores 12-25, 1/8 inch for 32-63, and 1/4 inch for 80-100. Rod thread is female as standard or male with the B option. An optional magnet (-S) enables CMSE/DMSE switch mounting. Push force at 0.5 MPa spans about 40 N (bore 12) to 3641 N (bore 100), net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa and speed is 50-500 mm/s.

Use ASE cylinders to clamp small workpieces in CNC fixtures. The spring return retracts the clamp on air loss, releasing the part safely.
Mount ASE cylinders on conveyor stops or assembly lines to eject parts from nests. The compact body fits tight spaces and the spring return resets the ejector.
In packaging lines, ASE cylinders actuate stops or guides. The short stroke and fast 50-500 mm/s speed suit high-cycle indexing.
Use ASE cylinders to advance test probes or sensors onto parts in inspection stations. The spring return lifts the probe when air is removed.
Choose the ASE bore based on the push force you need at your working pressure, using the 0.5 MPa span of 40 N to 3641 N as a reference. Select the B variant for a male rod thread if your tooling requires it, and add the -S magnet option if you need position sensing with CMSE/DMSE switches. Confirm stroke, port thread, and mounting style from the datasheet.
Step out of the ASE when you need a powered return: use the ACE double-acting version for faster cycling or mid-stroke positioning. For a pull action, choose the ATE single-acting pull cylinder. If you need adjustable stroke, the ACEJ is the alternative. The ASE replaces the discontinued ASP (DIN standard) for simple clamp or eject applications that require fail-retract.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa, push force spans about 40 N for the 12mm bore to 3641 N for the 100mm bore, net of the return spring. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
The ASE is single-acting push with spring return. The B variant has a male rod thread instead of the standard female. The -S option adds a magnet for CMSE/DMSE switches. All share the same body and stroke range.
No. The ASE is an ISO 21287 compact cylinder, not a tie-rod or ISO 15552 type. It replaces the discontinued ASP (DIN standard) for compact applications.
