This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE12X45B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE12X45B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP12X45B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 45mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE12X45B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder in the DIN-standard ACP series, the ACP12X45B pairs a 12 mm bore with a 45 mm stroke and a male rod thread (the B code). Air drives the piston both ways, delivering 56.5 N in push and 42.4 N in pull at 0.5 MPa, rising to 79.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and small guarding where a full-length body cannot. A fixed TPU bumper at each end takes the end-of-travel shock.
This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ACE12X45 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to the DIN standard. Note there is no magnet fitted here: order the optional -S code if you need CMSE or DMSE switch sensing. For sizing, plan on roughly 34 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the rating), which corresponds to lifting about 3 kg vertically with a sensible margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE12X45B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACE12X45B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×45 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
Ejects small machined or moulded parts off a nest - the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is ample for gram-range components, and the 45 mm stroke clears shallow pockets.
Clamps thin PCBs or small brackets in an electronics assembly jig, where the short body fits inside the fixture plate that a longer cylinder cannot.
Drives a miniature slide in a lab or packaging device; order the -S magnet version to add CMSE / DMSE end-of-stroke switches.
At 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa this 12 mm bore suits light clamping and small part ejection; step up to the 16 mm bore (100.5 N at 0.5 MPa) for roughly double the force, or down to the 10 mm class if space is even tighter. The 45 mm stroke sits inside the 50 mm standard range for this bore, so no made-to-order stroke is needed. The male rod thread (B) suits knuckle and threaded-joint tooling; the female-thread version drops the B. Remember a plain cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must hold. Order ACP12X45BS if you want the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, and treat the ACE12X45 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa push is 79.2 N and pull 59.4 N, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is double acting with a 12 mm bore, 45 mm stroke, 6 mm rod, M5x0.8 ports, male rod thread, 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) operating pressure, 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, -20 to +70 C temperature range and 30-500 mm/s speed.
Order the ACE12X45, the ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same bore, stroke and force class with a matching short body and mounting family. Because the ACP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping. If you need position sensing, the ACE takes the equivalent of the optional -S magnet and CMSE / DMSE switches.
