This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE12X90 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE12X90 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP12X90 is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø12mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE12X90 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP12X90 is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 12 mm bore and a 90 mm stroke, driving a 6 mm hard-chrome rod from an M5x0.8 port. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N, rising to 79.2 N push at 0.7 MPa, with a theoretical ceiling of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into slim fixtures and guarding where a full-length body cannot. Note that the 90 mm stroke exceeds the 50 mm standard limit for this bore, so it is a made-to-order build.
Because the 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa translates to about 5.7 kgf, plan on lifting roughly 2.8 kg vertically once you keep a 2:1 margin - enough for small covers, sensors or light clamps. The body is hard-anodized aluminium with an S45C hard-chrome rod and a fixed TPU bumper at each end, running at 30-500 mm/s on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACE12X90, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE12X90 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 57 N | 42 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 79 N | 59 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 12 kgf | |
The ACE12X90 produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 12 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to flick rejected pills or connectors off a conveyor belt, and the short body fits inside the tight guarding of a vision inspection station.
With about 2.8 kg of usable vertical lift at a 2:1 margin, the 12 mm bore holds PCBs or small housings in a PCB test fixture without deforming them.
The 90 mm made-to-order stroke moves a small dosing head or shutter inside a compact analyser chassis where a longer-body cylinder simply will not fit.
At 12 mm bore you sit at the bottom of the range: 56.5 N push at 0.5 MPa. If your load needs more, the 16 mm bore gives 100.5 N at the same pressure, while the 20 mm bore reaches 157.1 N. Keep in mind that a plain ACP12X90 will drift the moment air is lost - for a held position add a rod lock or pilot check valve. The 90 mm stroke is non-standard for this bore (standard tops out at 50 mm), so order it as a made-to-order unit. The rod ends in a female M3x0.5 thread, and the optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without it no magnet is fitted. This model is discontinued - specify ACE12X90 and verify the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 56.5 N and pulls 42.4 N; at 0.7 MPa that rises to 79.2 N push and 59.4 N pull, with a theoretical maximum of 11.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. As a rule of thumb, treat about 34 N (roughly 60% of the push figure) as the usable working force, which corresponds to lifting about 2.8 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
Yes - strokes beyond the 50 mm standard limit for the 12 mm bore are made to order, so the ACP12X90 is built on request. The ACP family is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACE12X90, which matches the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to the DIN standard.
