This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED100X20 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED100X20 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD100X20 is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 20mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED100X20 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting, double-rod compact cylinder built to the DIN-standard ACP layout, the ACPD100X20 pushes and pulls with identical force because a 25 mm rod exits both covers and both strokes use the rod-side area. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 3681.6 N in each direction, rising to 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The 100 mm bore runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air at 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into presses, clamping gantries and machine frames where a full-length body will not fit. In practice the 3681.6 N rating translates to about 375 kg of vertical lift at 0.5 MPa; halving that for a 2:1 margin means it comfortably raises parts around 188 kg. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED100X20, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED100X20 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 3682 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 5154 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 751 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 100 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×20 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 3681.6 N bidirectional force at 0.5 MPa drives a short-strike marking or riveting head on a 20 mm stroke, with the rear rod guiding a position flag.
Equal push and pull from the double rod lets one valve cycle grip and release cartons on a warehouse transfer cart, lifting loads near 188 kg with margin.
The symmetric through-rod ejects finished bar stock from a lathe fixture, and the compact body fits inside the machine guard where a full-length cylinder cannot.
At bore 100 the ACPD100X20 sits at the top of the range: 3681.6 N both ways at 0.5 MPa versus 2356.2 N for an 80 mm bore. If your fixture needs less force, a 63 mm bore gives 1458.1 N at the same pressure. The through-rod resists rotation and light side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag in pick-and-place rigs. Remember the piston drifts when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check for held loads. This model is discontinued; the ACED100X20 is the current ISO 21287 replacement in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Replacement checklist
Yes. Because a rod exits both covers, both strokes use the rod-side area: 3681.6 N at 0.5 MPa and 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa, equal push and pull. Peak output at 1.0 MPa is 750.8 kgf. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
It is a DIN-standard compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome rod, 1/4" ports, female M16x1.5 rod thread and a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. The model is discontinued: order the ACED100X20, the current ISO 21287 drop-in, and confirm its mounting dimensions first. Position sensing needs the optional -S magnet code for CMSE / DMSE switches; without -S no magnet is fitted.
