This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED100X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED100X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD100X5SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø100mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED100X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD100X5SB pushes and pulls with identical output: 3681.6 N at 0.5 MPa and 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction, since both strokes work on the rod-side area. The 100 mm bore drives a 25 mm hard-chrome S45C rod through a hard-anodized aluminium body, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end and a 5 mm stroke suited to short, positive movements. Air supply is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), speed range 30-500 mm/s, and the 1/4" port matches this large bore.
The through-rod resists rotation and side load and gives a symmetric mount, so the rear rod can carry a sensor flag or a second tooling plate. This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped on either cover for end-of-travel signals. Note the short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters in dense machine frames. At 0.5 MPa the rated 3681.6 N translates to about 375 kg of lift, so plan on roughly 188 kg vertical capacity with a 2:1 margin. This model is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ACED100X5 in the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED100X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 3682 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 5154 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 751 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 100 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 5 mm stroke with 3681.6 N at 0.5 MPa seats bearings or bushings into aluminium housings on an assembly bench, with equal return force clearing the part.
The rear rod of the through-rod carries a sensor flag past a CMSE or DMSE switch, verifying a 5 mm gate or stopper move on a packaging line.
Equal force both ways lets one cylinder clamp a steel workpiece on the forward rod and eject scrap with the rear rod in a machining fixture.
Choose this 100 mm bore when a 5 mm clamp, index or eject move needs near 3.7 kN of force in both directions at 0.5 MPa. If the job needs less, the 80 mm bore delivers 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa; if more, step up is not available in this family, so confirm from datasheet. Because the piston drifts when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check valve for any held load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread (B code) suits knuckle and tooling adapters. Order the ACED100X5 as the current-production replacement.
Replacement checklist
Output is equal both ways because the double-rod design exposes the rod-side area on each stroke: 3681.6 N at 0.5 MPa, 5154.2 N at 0.7 MPa, and about 750.8 kgf maximum at 1.0 MPa. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof rating, speed 30-500 mm/s, and the port is 1/4".
Order the ACED100X5, the ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 100 mm bore, 5 mm stroke and force class with a short compact body, but confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP followed a DIN-standard layout.
