About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X25S
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD40X25S pushes with the same 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa in each direction, because both strokes work on the rod-side area of the 40 mm bore. At 0.7 MPa that rises to 800.5 N either way. The 25 mm stroke keeps the body short: this ISO 21287-class compact build saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-position sensing.
The through-rod resists rotation and light side load and gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag or a second tooling plate. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries a 12 mm S45C hard-chrome rod, and the female rod thread is M8x1.25 with a 1/8" PT port. In practice, plan on about 343 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED40X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

With equal 800.5 N clamping force at 0.7 MPa on both rods, a packaging machine can grip cartons or trays from two sides using one body, saving the length an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would need.
Position-flagged test fixture
The fitted -S magnet lets CMSE or DMSE switches report end positions on a 25 mm gauge or leak-test fixture, while the rear rod drives a visible indicator flag.

Remember the piston drifts when air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check valve for a held load. AirTAC no longer produces the ACPD family. The current drop-in is the ACED40X25, the ISO 21287 successor with the same bore, stroke and force class. The ACP series is DIN-standard, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and your FA/FB or LB bracket fit before swapping. This unit already carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
