This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED40X30SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED40X30SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X30SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 30mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED40X30SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting, double-rod compact cylinder built to the DIN-standard ACP format, the ACPD40X30SB pushes a 12 mm rod out of BOTH covers, so it delivers 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa in each direction - the rod-side area is identical either way. The 40 mm bore carries a 1/8" port, runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, and strokes 30 mm at 30-500 mm/s. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACED40X30.
The through-rod resists rotation and side load and gives a symmetric mount, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag on a fixture. The S code fits the optional -S magnet, so CMSE / DMSE reed or solid-state switches can be clipped to the hard-anodized aluminium body, and the B code gives a male rod thread. At 0.5 MPa, plan on roughly 343 N (about 35 kg) of usable push, which lifts about 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and the short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED40X30SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 572 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 800 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 117 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 40 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×30 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The rear rod drives a return flag past a DMSE switch while the front rod presses the probe, both strokes delivering the same 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa.
A through-rod on a 30 mm stroke lifts about 29 kg of aluminum housings vertically with a 2:1 margin, and the second rod end balances the bracket load.
Equal push and pull from the double rod squares cartons on a packaging line, with CMSE switches confirming end positions via the fitted -S magnet.
Choose this bore when your jig needs 571.8 N per direction at 0.5 MPa: the 32 mm bore manages 345.6 N and the 50 mm bore reaches 881.2 N, both also equal in push and pull. If the load must stay put when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check - a plain double-rod cylinder will drift. FA/FB flange or LB foot brackets bolt to the standard face, and the male rod thread takes an I/Y knuckle directly. For new builds, order the ACED40X30 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
Replacement checklist
Yes - it is a double-rod cylinder, so both strokes use the rod-side area: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa either way, with a maximum of 116.6 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 1/8" port depends only on the 40 mm bore.
Order the ACED40X30, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 40 mm bore, 30 mm stroke and force class with a matching short body and mounting family. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP follows the DIN-standard format.
