About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X55SB
A double acting, double-rod compact cylinder built to the DIN-standard ACP format, the ACPD40X55SB pushes a 40 mm piston through a 55 mm stroke with a rod leaving both covers. Because each side sees the rod-side area, output is a matched 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction - ideal for symmetric clamping or reciprocating tooling. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted optional -S magnet, which accepts CMSE / DMSE switches, come with this code.
The short ISO 21287-class body cuts roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures, and the through-rod resists rotation and side load while the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. A fixed TPU bumper sits at both ends and the hard-anodized aluminium body pairs with an S45C hard-chrome rod. Note this model is discontinued: the current drop-in is ACED40X55, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a sizing rule, plan on about 343 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
