About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X5B
This is a double acting, double-rod compact cylinder: a rod exits both covers, so the piston sees the rod-side area on every stroke and delivers an equal 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa (800.5 N at 0.7 MPa) pushing or pulling. The 40 mm bore with a 5 mm stroke suits short clamp-and-release moves, and the male rod thread (B code) bolts straight to external tooling. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Speed range is 30-500 mm/s on air filtered to 40 um.
The hard-anodized aluminium body is an ISO 21287 short build that saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight fixtures and guards. A fixed TPU bumper pads both ends. In practical terms, plan on roughly 343 N (about 35 kgf) of usable force at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.
