This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED40X80SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED40X80SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X80SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 80mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED40X80SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod through both covers, the ACPD40X80SB delivers 571.8 N in each direction at 0.5 MPa (800.5 N at 0.7 MPa) because both strokes work on the rod-side area. The 40 mm bore drives a 12 mm rod over an 80 mm stroke at 30-500 mm/s, with a fixed TPU bumper at each end. The male rod thread (B code) and the fitted -S magnet let you bolt on CMSE / DMSE switches straight away.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the ISO 21287 short format, so it saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - useful in tight jigs and gantries. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, and the rear rod can carry a sensor flag. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACED40X80, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. For vertical work, plan on roughly 343 N (about 35 kg) of usable push, or lift about 29 kg with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED40X80SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 572 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 800 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 117 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 40 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×80 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 571.8 N symmetric push clamps aluminium housings in machining fixtures, with the male rod thread taking a standard knuckle.
Equal force both ways pushes cartons on and off a sorting line, and the -S magnet feeds CMSE switches for gate-position feedback.
The through-rod stabilizes a small vertical lift on packaging machinery, raising parts of about 29 kg with a 2:1 margin.
At 571.8 N per side, bore 40 sits between bore 32 (345.6 N) and bore 50 (881.2 N) at 0.5 MPa - step down for lighter clamping, up for heavier presses. The 80 mm stroke is well inside the 200 mm standard limit for this bore. Like any plain double-rod cylinder it will drift if air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check for a held load. FA/FB flange and LB foot mountings suit the ISO 21287 face. Since ACPD40X80SB is discontinued, order ACED40X80 as the current equivalent.
Replacement checklist
Because a rod exits both covers, force is equal in both directions: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa, peaking at 116.6 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, and the 80 mm stroke is within the 200 mm standard limit for bore 40.
Order ACED40X80, the current ISO 21287 successor made by swapping the P for an E. It matches the same 40 mm bore, 80 mm stroke and force class, and accepts the same FA/FB and LB mounting family. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ACP was built to the older DIN-standard format.
