This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X70 — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X70 in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X70 is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 70mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X70 (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod through both covers, the ACPD80X70 delivers 2356.2 N in each direction at 0.5 MPa because both strokes work on the rod-side area of the 80 mm bore. The 20 mm through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mounting face, and leaves the rear rod free to carry a sensor flag. Its short ISO 21287 body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight gantries and guarding. This model is discontinued; the current-production drop-in is ACED80X70.
At 0.7 MPa the same bore produces 3298.7 N both ways, with a peak of 480.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Plan on roughly 1414 N of real work at 0.5 MPa, which is about 120 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at each end, the S45C hard-chrome rod runs at 30-500 mm/s, and the 1/4" port takes 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) filtered air. Note that the piston drifts if air is lost, so use a rod lock or pilot check where a load must stay put.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X70 (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×70 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 70 mm stroke pushing and pulling a forming die between stations uses the identical 2356.2 N thrust in both directions, so return speed and force match the working stroke.
A through-rod pusher on a bottling conveyor rejects or diverts cartons at 30-500 mm/s, with the rear rod carrying a flag for a CMSE switch when the -S magnet is ordered.
Mounted under a machine-tool gantry where headroom is short, the compact body clamps fixtures with about 120 kg of usable vertical lift at a 2:1 margin on 0.5 MPa.
For 70 mm strokes needing equal push and pull near 2356 N at 0.5 MPa, this 80 mm double-rod unit fits; drop to the 63 mm bore (1458.1 N) for lighter tooling or step up to 100 mm (3681.6 N) for heavier presses. Choose the LB foot or FA/FB flange to match the fixture, and remember the piston will drift on air loss unless a rod lock or pilot check is added. Since ACPD80X70 is discontinued, order ACED80X70 instead and confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap. The optional -S magnet code enables CMSE / DMSE switches; without it no magnet is fitted.
Replacement checklist
Because a rod exits both covers, force is equal both ways: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, peaking at 480.5 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, and a 1/4" port. The model is discontinued; ACED80X70 is the current replacement.
It is a short-body ISO 21287 class compact cylinder with a hard-anodized aluminium body, S45C hard-chrome 20 mm rod, fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and a female M12x1.75 rod thread. It saves roughly half the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder. Before swapping to ACED80X70, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions, and order the -S code if you need the optional magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches.
