This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ASE63X15SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ASE63X15SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ASP Single Acting Guided Compact Cylinder ASP63X15SB is a single acting, push (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø63mm bore and 15mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ASE63X15SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting push cylinder with spring return, the ASP63X15SB uses air to extend its 16 mm rod and a return spring to retract it, so one air line is all the plumbing a 63 mm bore station needs. At 0.5 MPa it delivers 1420.5 N of push, already net of the spring, rising to 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. The short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into cramped clamping nests and sliding guards. Working pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) and speed runs 50-500 mm/s.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be fitted for end-of-stroke signalling, and the B code gives a male rod thread with a PT port thread. A fixed TPU bumper at each end decelerates the rod; it never locks or brakes a load, and on air loss the spring simply drives the piston home. Note that the ASP family is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ASE63X15, and you should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping. As a planning figure, treat roughly 852 N (about 0.6 of the 0.5 MPa rating) as the usable push, which corresponds to lifting about 72 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ASE63X15SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 1420.5 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 2044.0 N |
Single-acting push: air extends the rod; the return spring retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ASP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting push, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 63 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×15 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 1420.5 N push at 0.5 MPa seats an aluminium gearbox housing against a locater, and the spring retracts the clamp the moment air is lost, clearing the part for unloading.
A 15 mm kick is enough to lift finished bushings out of the die pocket, and the short body fits under the bolster where a full-length profile cylinder would not.
With about 852 N of practical working force, the cylinder nudges a row of blister cartons square to the lane, and the -S magnet feeds a CMSE switch signal back to the PLC.
Size against the job: if 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the 50 mm bore ASP50X15SB gives 875.5 N in the same footprint family, while the 80 mm ASP80X15SB raises it to 2316.2 N. Because the spring returns the rod, the cylinder will not hold a mid-stroke position under load - plan your fixture around the normally retracted rest state. The 15 mm stroke sits inside the standard range for this bore, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the same face. Order the -S code if you need switch sensing. For new builds, specify the ASE63X15 instead, since the ASP is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
It is single acting push with spring return: air extends the rod and the spring retracts it. Push force, already net of the return spring, is 1420.5 N at 0.5 MPa and 2044 N at 0.7 MPa. The spring needs at least 0.2 MPa of air pressure to be overcome, operating pressure spans 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi), and speed is 50-500 mm/s. The 63 mm bore has a 16 mm rod and a 1/8" port.
Order the ASE63X15, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 63 mm bore, 15 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Before swapping, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture, since the ASP follows the DIN-standard compact format. Flange, foot and clevis mounting options and the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches carry over in the ASE family.
