About the Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP100X20SB
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP100X20SB keeps its 25 mm rod extended by an internal spring and retracts it with compressed air, delivering 3395.3 N of pull at 0.5 MPa (4867.9 N at 0.7 MPa), both figures already net of the spring. This 100 mm bore unit is discontinued, and the current-production ATE100X20 is the drop-in successor in the same bore, stroke and force class. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it fits dense press frames and guarded stations where a full-length body cannot.
For sizing, plan on roughly 2037 N of usable pull at 0.5 MPa instead of the full rating, which works out to lifting about 173 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. The S code on this model means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. The B code gives a male rod thread, the port is 1/4", and fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions of the ATE100X20 before swapping.

The 20 mm stroke sits well inside the short-stroke nature of single-acting pull designs, and speed runs 50-500 mm/s. On air loss the spring returns the rod to its extended home position; it does not hold a mid-stroke position, so add an external stop if you need intermediate holding.
