This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE40X25S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE40X25S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP40X25S is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø40mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE40X25S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP40X25S keeps its rod extended at rest and uses compressed air to retract it. This 40 mm bore version delivers a net pull of 500.3 N at 0.5 MPa (729 N at 0.7 MPa), already after the return spring has taken its share. The S code means the optional magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be mounted directly on the hard-anodized aluminium body.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarded stations. At 0.5 MPa the pull equals about 51 kgf, so halving for a 2:1 margin lets it lift about 25 kg vertically. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ATE40X25, and buyers should confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE40X25S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 500.3 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 729.0 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 40 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring extends the rod to push finished cartons off a conveyor stop; air at 0.5 MPa retracts it with 500.3 N of pull, and the fitted magnet confirms home position via a DMSE switch.
A 25 mm pull stroke clears a locating pin from a bracket between weld cycles; the normally-extended spring fails safe to the retracted-clear state only when air is applied, and the short body fits the jig plate.
The rod holds a visible part-present flag out by spring force; a CMSE switch on the magnet-flagged body signals to the PLC when air has pulled the flag down, within the 50-500 mm/s speed range.
Size the job both ways: the 32 mm bore pulls 296.0 N at 0.5 MPa, while stepping up to the 50 mm bore gives 775.0 N. If your load needs roughly 300 N of real work, this 40 mm unit at 500.3 N rated pull leaves a sensible margin. Remember the spring returns the rod to its extended home position on air loss and will not hold a mid-stroke position. The female M8x1.25 rod thread suits standard rod knuckles, and the 1/8" port keeps plumbing simple. Order the ATE40X25 as the drop-in successor and verify mounting dimensions against the datasheet.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting pull cylinder: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it. Net pull (already after the spring) is 500.3 N at 0.5 MPa and 729 N at 0.7 MPa. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa, operating range 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 50-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
The compact aluminium body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and fixed TPU bumpers at both ends decelerate the rod at each end of travel. The ATP family is discontinued; the current drop-in is the ATE40X25 (same 40 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class) - confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.
