This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE80X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE80X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP80X25SB is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE80X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP80X25SB uses an 80 mm bore to deliver a net pull of 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa (3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa, already subtracting the spring). The spring holds the rod extended at rest, and compressed air between 0.2 MPa and 1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) retracts it, so the unit fails safely to the extended home position on air loss. The S code fits the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling, and the B code gives a male rod thread instead of a female one.
Built as a short-body ISO 21287 class compact cylinder, it saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which matters inside tight welding fixtures or press guards. The hard-anodized aluminium body carries a fixed TPU bumper at each end, and the S45C hard-chrome 20 mm rod resists wear in high-cycle work. For planning, treat about 1295 N (roughly 132 kg of pull) as the realistic working force at 0.5 MPa, and expect it to lift about 110 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ATE80X25, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE80X25SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2159.1 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3101.6 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring keeps clamp arms extended over a weldment, and 2159.1 N of air pull at 0.5 MPa retracts them when the PLC opens the valve, all within a 25 mm stroke.
Fails to extended on air loss, so a sliding press guard stays closed; the 1/4" port feeds the 80 mm bore at up to 1.0 MPa (145 psi) for a fast 3101.6 N retract at 0.7 MPa.
Spring-extended latch pins hold a battery cage locked on a warehouse forklift; the compact short body fits where a full-length ISO 15552 profile cylinder cannot.
Size by net pull, not bore alone: at 0.5 MPa this 80 mm bore pulls 2159.1 N after the spring, while a 63 mm bore manages 1320 N and a 100 mm bore reaches 3395.3 N, so step up only if the 80 mm figure falls short. Remember the spring cannot hold a mid-stroke position or lock a load; it simply returns the rod to extended when air is lost. Mounting brackets from the FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis family bolt to the standard face, and with the -S magnet fitted, CMSE or DMSE switches give position feedback. Order the ATE80X25 as the current replacement for this discontinued model.
Replacement checklist
It is a single acting pull cylinder: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it. Net of the return spring, it pulls 2159.1 N at 0.5 MPa and 3101.6 N at 0.7 MPa across the 25 mm stroke. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa (28 psi) to overcome the spring, with a proof pressure of 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed range 50-500 mm/s, and a 1/4" port on this 80 mm bore.
Order the ATE80X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 80 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions against your fixture before swapping, since the ATP was built to a DIN-standard compact pattern, and re-check whether your switches need the -S magnet option.
