About the Airtac MTG Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MTG20X100S
The AirTAC MTG20X100S is a single acting, spring-return PULL cylinder in the JIS round-body mini series: the internal spring holds the rod EXTENDED at rest, and compressed air RETRACTS (pulls) the rod on the work stroke. With a 20 mm bore and 100 mm stroke it delivers about 84.8 N of net pull at 0.5 MPa and 137.5 N at 0.7 MPa, already after the spring. That means one air line and one valve position do the work, so a realistic safe working pull is roughly 50 N, or about 5 kg of vertical load at the 0.6 derating rule of thumb. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa (28 psi) and the speed range is 50 to 800 mm/s.
Construction suits damp and washdown corners of a line: a SUS304 stainless barrel, a hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod, riveted rolled covers, a two-way lubricant-storing piston seal and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad at the stroke end. The fitted magnet (the S code) accepts CMSG, DMSG or EMSG reed switches for end-of-stroke signalling, the port is 1/8" on every MTG bore, and the rod carries a male M8x1.25 thread. Retract a locating pin

Draw a light web or tape
Use the 100 mm pull stroke to draw film, tape or a light web through a guide, where the 84.8 to 137.5 N net pull at 0.5 to 0.7 MPa is enough and one air line keeps plumbing simple.

Is the Airtac MTG Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MTG20X100S the Right Cylinder?
Size the MTG20X100S by pull force, not bore alone: at 0.5 MPa this 20 mm bore gives 84.8 N net pull (about 8.6 kgf), the smallest in the MTG range. If your draw needs more, the MTG25 gives about 132.6 N and the MTG40 about 339.1 N at the same pressure. Remember the direction of power: the spring pushes the rod OUT and air PULLS it in, so the work stroke must be a retract, draw, close or tension motion, and on air loss the rod returns to its extended rest position rather than holding the load. The spring also caps standard strokes at 150 mm for this bore, so 100 mm is comfortably within range; for longer travel or powered return choose the double-acting MG. Check the 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum against your supply, confirm the 1/8" port and M8x1.25 male rod thread, pick LB, FA, CB or SDB mounting (I/Y knuckles available), and keep the S code if you want CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switch position feedback, which this model already has.
