About the Airtac MTG Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MTG20X25
The AirTAC MTG20X25 is a single acting, pull-type JIS round-body mini cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 25 mm stroke. The internal spring holds the rod extended at rest, and compressed air retracts (pulls) the rod on the work stroke, so only one air line is needed - ideal for one-way draw, retract, close or tension motions. Because the spring resists the stroke, the net pull is 84.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 137.5 N at 0.7 MPa, and the minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa (28 psi). As a rule of thumb, size the load at about 60 percent of the pull, which gives a safe working figure of roughly 5 kg for this bore.
Construction follows the JIS mini-cylinder footprint with a riveted round body: SUS304 stainless barrel, hard-chrome plated carbon-steel rod (20 um chrome), two-way lubricant-storing piston seal and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad that softens the stroke ends. It runs on air filtered to 40 um at 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), proof tested to 1.5 MPa (215 psi), from -20 to +70 C at 50-800 mm/s. Size up to MTG25 (132.6 N), MTG32 (224.8 N) or MTG40 (339.1 N) if your pull demand exceeds that at 0.5 MPa. Remember the direction of operation: the spring extends the rod and air retracts it, so the work stroke is the pull; if you need two-way powered travel or a stroke beyond the 150 mm standard limit, step to the double-acting MG series instead.
