AirTAC Pneumatics
AirTAC ACPD series double-rod DIN-standard compact cylinders, 12-100mm bore, with equal force in both directions for symmetric, rotation-resistant motion.
inventory_2969 models availableThe AirTAC ACPD series is the double-rod version of the DIN-standard ACP compact cylinder. A piston rod exits both end covers, so output force is equal in both directions and the through-rod resists rotation for a symmetric mount. The series spans 10 bores from 12 to 100 mm, with rod diameters from 6 mm (bore 12) to 20 mm (bore 100). Ports are M5x0.8 for bores 12-25, 1/8 inch for bores 32-63, and 1/4 inch for bores 80-100.
All ACPD cylinders are double acting with a fixed bumper at both ends and a two-way seal. The short hard-anodized aluminium body and S45C hard-chrome rods suit compact automation. A magnet option (-S) enables position sensing with switches. Operating pressure is 0.15-1.0 MPa, temperature -20 to +80 C, and air filtration 40 um. The ACPD series is discontinued; the current replacement is the ISO 21287 ACED series (e.g., ACPD32X25 becomes ACED32X25).

The double rod resists rotation, keeping a gripper or vacuum cup oriented during pick-and-place cycles in assembly machines. Equal force both ways simplifies control.
Use ACPD cylinders to push products off a conveyor line. The symmetric force and compact body fit tight spaces between rollers, and the fixed bumper absorbs end-of-stroke impact.
In carton erecting or sealing machines, the through-rod provides stable clamping without twisting. The hard-chrome rod and two-way seal handle frequent cycling.
For machine tool stops or workpiece locators, the double-rod design gives a consistent reference plane. The 12-100 mm bore range covers light to medium clamping forces.
Choose the ACPD bore based on the required force at your operating pressure. At 0.5 MPa, output force spans about 42 N at bore 12 to 3770 N at bore 100, equal in both directions. For lighter loads, smaller bores (12-25 mm) with M5 ports are compact and cost-effective; for heavier pushes, select bores 32-100 mm with 1/8 or 1/4 inch ports. If you need position sensing, add the -S magnet option for switches.
Since ACPD is discontinued, specify the ACED series for new designs. ACED is the ISO 21287 replacement and offers the same bore range. For applications requiring side-load resistance or an ISO 15552 interface, consider AirTAC's tie-rod cylinders. Confirm five points before ordering: bore size, stroke, port thread, mounting style, and whether you need the -S magnet option.
Quick checklist
At 0.5 MPa, output force is equal in both directions and spans about 42 N at bore 12 to 3770 N at bore 100. The double-rod design means push and pull forces are the same, based on the rod-side area.
No, the ACPD series is discontinued. The replacement is the ISO 21287 ACED series. For example, ACPD32X25 is replaced by ACED32X25. Legacy ACPD model numbers are still recognized for cross-reference.
ACPD is the double-rod version of the ACP compact cylinder. ACPD has a piston rod exiting both covers, providing equal force in both directions and resisting rotation. ACP has a single rod. Both are DIN-standard compact cylinders, not tie-rod or ISO 15552.
No. The ACPD is a double-acting cylinder with no mechanical lock or brake. If pressure is lost, the piston drifts. The fixed bumper only decelerates the piston near stroke end. For load holding, use an external mechanical lock, rod brake, or pilot check valve.
