This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE20X90B — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE20X90B in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP20X90B is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø20mm bore and 90mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE20X90B (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP20X90B is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 90 mm stroke, built on a hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome piston rod and a fixed TPU bumper at both ends. The B code gives a male rod thread, and air ports are M5x0.8. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa those rise to 219.9 N and 164.9 N, with a theoretical maximum of 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. Its short ISO 21287-class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body will not fit.
Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACE20X90 (swap the P for an E), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to a DIN standard. No magnet is fitted to this code, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted; order the -S variant if position sensing is needed. As a rule of thumb, plan on roughly 94 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa (about 0.6 of the rating), which vertically lifts around 9 kg with a 2:1 margin.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE20X90B (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 157 N | 118 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 220 N | 165 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 32 kgf | |
The ACE20X90B produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 20 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×90 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa is enough to kick stamped terminals or moulded caps off a nest, and the 90 mm stroke clears a deep fixture without a long body.
With about 94 N of usable force at 0.5 MPa, the 20 mm bore crimps light-gauge spade and ring terminals on electronics harness benches.
The short body fits inside guarding where an ISO 15552 profile cylinder would not, swinging product gates through 90 mm of travel at 30-500 mm/s.
At 157.1 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 20 mm bore sits between the 16 mm (100.5 N) and 25 mm (245.4 N) options - step down for lighter clamping, up if your load needs more margin. Keep in mind a plain ACP does not hold position when air is lost; add a rod lock or pilot check valve for a held load. The male rod thread (B code) suits I/Y rod knuckles, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the same face. For new builds, order the ACE20X90 instead - this ACP is discontinued.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 157.1 N and pulls 117.8 N; at 0.7 MPa, 219.9 N push and 164.9 N pull; theoretical maximum is 32 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For real work, plan on about 94 N of push at 0.5 MPa - roughly 9 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C, air filtered to 40 um.
Only if the cylinder carries the optional -S magnet code - this ACP20X90B has no magnet, so no CMSE or DMSE switch can be mounted. The model itself is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACE20X90, a drop-in in the same bore, stroke and force class. Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, and note the fixed TPU bumper only decelerates at stroke ends - it never holds a load.
