This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE25X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE25X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X5SB is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 5mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE25X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
The ACP25X5SB is a double acting DIN-standard compact cylinder with a 25 mm bore and a very short 5 mm stroke. Air both extends and retracts the 10 mm rod, and a fixed TPU bumper sits at each end. Push force is 245.4 N and pull force is 206.2 N at 0.5 MPa, rising to 343.6 N on the extend stroke at 0.7 MPa. Its hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, so it slots into tight jigs and fixture plates where a full-length body will not fit.
The S code in this model means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clamped straight onto the body for end-of-stroke sensing. The B code gives a male rod thread, and the port is M5x0.8. For sizing, plan on roughly 147 N of real work at 0.5 MPa (about 60% of the push rating), which vertically lifts about 15 kg - halve that to around 7 kg for a 2:1 margin. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACE25X5 in the same bore, stroke and force class, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE25X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.

|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 245 N | 206 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 344 N | 289 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 50 kgf | |
The ACE25X5SB produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 5 mm stroke confirms a machined housing has seated in its CNC jig, while the fitted -S magnet feeds a CMSE switch signal straight to the PLC.
With 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa, the 25 mm bore holds connector housings or PCB fixtures during a brief solder or test cycle.
About 15 kg of vertical lift equivalent at 0.5 MPa nudges finished parts off a nest on a packaging machine without disturbing the layout.
At 25 mm bore this cylinder delivers 245.4 N push / 206.2 N pull at 0.5 MPa - step down to a 20 mm bore (157.1 N push) for lighter clamping, or up to 32 mm (402.1 N push) if the load grows. The 5 mm stroke suits short-throw locating and part-present duties; bore 25 supports standard strokes up to 150 mm if a longer version is ever needed. Remember a plain cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check valve if the load must stay put. This unit carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches and a male rod thread; mounting brackets from the FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis family bolt to the same face. It is discontinued - order the ACE25X5 as the current drop-in and verify ISO 21287 dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
Push is 245.4 N and pull is 206.2 N at 0.5 MPa; at 0.7 MPa push rises to 343.6 N and pull to 288.6 N, with a theoretical maximum of 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. It is a double acting compact cylinder, 25 mm bore, 5 mm stroke, 10 mm rod, M5x0.8 port, operating on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, at 30-500 mm/s and -20 to +70 C. Proof pressure is 1.5 MPa (215 psi).
This model carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed or solid-state switches clamp onto the body for end-of-stroke detection. The ACP family is discontinued; the current-production replacement is the ACE25X5 (ISO 21287), which matches the same bore, stroke and force class - confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to the DIN standard.
