This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACE25X85S — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACE25X85S in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACP Compact Cylinder ACP25X85S is a double acting DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø25mm bore and 85mm stroke, M5×0.8 air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACE25X85S (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A double acting compact cylinder in the DIN-standard ACP series, the ACP25X85S pairs a 25 mm bore with an 85 mm stroke and arrives with the optional -S magnet already fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke sensing. At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N; at 0.7 MPa those figures rise to 343.6 N and 288.6 N. The hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod runs on 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) air filtered to 40 um, at speeds of 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight fixtures and guarding. In practice, plan on about 147 N of usable push at 0.5 MPa, enough to lift roughly 12 kg vertically once a 2:1 margin is applied. Fixed TPU bumpers sit at both ends. Note this model is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is ACE25X85, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACE25X85S (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Push force | Pull force |
|---|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 245 N | 206 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 344 N | 289 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 50 kgf | |
The ACE25X85S produces the same force from the same bore. Actual usable force is lower than theoretical; size with a margin.
| ACP | DIN compact cylinder (double-acting, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 25 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×85 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa tucks cardboard flaps on a packaging line, while the fitted -S magnet feeds stroke confirmation to the PLC via a DMSE switch.
Mounted on an LB foot inside a machining jig, the 85 mm stroke ejects finished aluminium brackets from a nest, with the short body fitting under the fixture plate.
A CA clevis swings a sorting gate on a bottling conveyor; the 206.2 N pull at 0.5 MPa retracts the gate against product flow at up to 500 mm/s.
For a 25 mm bore, 245.4 N push at 0.5 MPa covers light clamping and transfer tasks; step down to a 20 mm bore (157.1 N) if force is generous, or up to a 32 mm bore (402.1 N) for heavier jigs. The 85 mm stroke sits well inside the 150 mm maximum standard stroke for this bore. Choose the female M6x1.0 rod thread as coded, or add B for a male thread. FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis mountings bolt to the same face, and the fitted -S magnet accepts CMSE / DMSE switches. Because a plain cylinder drifts when air is lost, add a rod lock or pilot check valve for held loads. Order ACE25X85 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
At 0.5 MPa it pushes 245.4 N and pulls 206.2 N; at 0.7 MPa, 343.6 N push and 288.6 N pull; theoretical maximum is 50.1 kgf at 1.0 MPa. For real work, budget about 147 N of push at 0.5 MPa, which corresponds to lifting roughly 12 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi), proof pressure 1.5 MPa (215 psi), speed 30-500 mm/s, temperature -20 to +70 C.
Order ACE25X85, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you keep the same 25 mm bore, 85 mm stroke and force class. The short body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, and FA/FB flange, LB foot and CA/CB clevis brackets plus I/Y rod knuckles suit the same fixtures. Because the ACP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before the swap. This model carries the optional -S magnet for CMSE / DMSE switches, and its fixed TPU bumpers only decelerate at the ends.
