About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X30S
A double acting compact cylinder with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD40X30S pushes and pulls with identical output: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa in each direction, because both strokes work on the rod-side area of the 40 mm bore. The through-rod resists rotation and side load, gives a symmetric mount, and lets the rear rod carry a sensor flag. Its hard-anodized aluminium body keeps the footprint short - roughly 50% less mounting length than an ISO 15552 profile cylinder - so it slots into tight jigs and guarding where a full-length body cannot fit.
This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches mount directly on the body for end-of-stroke signalling. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, and speed spans 30-500 mm/s over an operating range of 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). In practice the 571.8 N rating translates to about 343 N of usable work at 0.5 MPa, which lifts roughly 29 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that ACPD is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ISO 21287 ACED40X30, so confirm mounting dimensions before ordering.

Remember that a plain double-rod cylinder drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check if the load must stay put.
