About the Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD40X45S
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD40X45S pushes and pulls with identical output: 571.8 N at 0.5 MPa and 800.5 N at 0.7 MPa in either direction, because both strokes work on the rod-side area of the 40 mm bore. The through-rod resists rotation and light side load, gives a symmetric mounting face, and the rear rod is a handy carrier for a sensor flag. This unit carries the optional -S magnet, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped straight on. Note the model is discontinued; the current-production successor is ACED40X45.
The short ISO 21287-class body saves roughly 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it suits tight jigs, guarding and gantry axes. A fixed TPU bumper sits at each end, the hard-anodized aluminium body carries an S45C hard-chrome rod, and speed runs 30-500 mm/s at 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi). In practice, plan on about 343 N of real work at 0.5 MPa - roughly 29 kg of vertical lift with a 2:1 margin - and remember the piston drifts if air is lost, so add a rod lock or pilot check for a held load.
