This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ACED80X5SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ACED80X5SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ACPD Double Rod Compact Cylinder ACPD80X5SB is a double acting, double rod DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø80mm bore and 5mm stroke, 1/4" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ACED80X5SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
Double acting with a rod leaving both covers, the ACPD80X5SB pushes and pulls with identical force because each stroke works on the rod-side area: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, equal in both directions. The 80 mm bore drives a 20 mm through-rod with a male thread (B code) on each end, fed by 1/4" ports, and the piston runs between fixed TPU bumpers at 30-500 mm/s.
The short ISO 21287-class body cuts mounting length by roughly half versus an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which suits a 5 mm eject or clamp step inside a tight press fixture. Because the force at 0.5 MPa is 2356.2 N, plan on about 1414 N of usable work and expect roughly 120 kg of vertical lift at a 2:1 margin. The -S magnet fitted to this unit accepts CMSE / DMSE switches for end-of-stroke sensing. Note: the ACPD family is discontinued; the current-production successor is the ACED80X5, so confirm ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before ordering.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ACED80X5SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Force (both ways) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 2356 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 3299 N |
| Max (@1.0 MPa) | 481 kgf |
Double-rod: a rod exits both covers, so output force is equal in both directions (rod-side area used).
| ACPD | DIN compact cylinder (double-rod, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 80 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×5 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
A 5 mm kick on a stamping die clears the finished bracket off the nest; 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa is ample for a light part and the short body fits inside the die shoe.
Drives a lever clamp on a CNC pallet with equal force opening and closing, since both strokes use the rod-side area; the male rod thread bolts straight to the knuckle.
The rear rod carries a CMSE or DMSE switch flag (magnet is the -S option this model carries) to signal probe contact on an automated inspection line.
At 2356.2 N per side at 0.5 MPa, this 80 mm double-rod unit suits a 5 mm short-throw clamp or locator. If the job needs under 900 N, step down to a 50 mm bore (881.2 N); if it needs over 2000 N at lower pressure, the 100 mm bore delivers 3681.6 N. The through-rod resists rotation and side load and lets the rear rod carry a sensor flag. Remember the piston drifts when air is lost - add a rod lock or pilot check if the load must stay put. Choose LB foot or FA/FB flange brackets to match the fixture, and order the ACED80X5 as the current replacement.
Replacement checklist
Being a double-rod cylinder, force is identical in both directions: 2356.2 N at 0.5 MPa and 3298.7 N at 0.7 MPa, equal push and pull on the rod-side area. Maximum output at 1.0 MPa is 480.5 kgf. Operating range is 0.15-1.0 MPa (22-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, on air filtered to 40 um.
The hard-anodized aluminium body follows the short ISO 21287-class format, saving about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, with fixed TPU bumpers at both ends and 1/4" ports. The ACPD is discontinued: the current-production drop-in is the ACED80X5 (same 80 mm bore, 5 mm stroke and force class). Confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping, since the ACP was built to the DIN standard.
