This model is discontinued
AirTAC has phased out the MAL series. The drop-in replacement is ATE32X25SB — same bore, stroke, output force, port and mounting, so it fits the same application. Simply order the ATE32X25SB in place of this model. The ACE replacement is a current-production ISO 21287 compact cylinder in the same bore, stroke and force class, with a matching short body and the same mounting-accessory family, so it fits the same envelope. Confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before ordering.

The AirTAC Airtac ATP Single Acting Port Compact Cylinder ATP32X25SB is a single acting, pull (spring return) DIN-standard tight/compact air cylinder with a Ø32mm bore and 25mm stroke, 1/8" air ports and a hard-anodized aluminium body. This model is discontinued — the current-production replacement is the ATE32X25SB (ISO 21287 ACE), in the same bore, stroke and force class.
A single acting pull cylinder with spring return, the ATP32X25SB uses an internal spring to hold the rod extended and compressed air to retract it, so the machine fails to the extended home position whenever air is lost. This 32 mm bore version delivers a net pull of 296 N at 0.5 MPa and 434.2 N at 0.7 MPa, with the spring already subtracted from those figures, and it needs at least 0.2 MPa (28-145 psi working band) to overcome the spring. The S code means the optional -S magnet is fitted, so CMSE or DMSE reed and solid-state switches can be clipped on for end-of-stroke signalling, and the B code gives a male rod thread instead of a female one.
The short ISO 21287 class body saves about 50% of the mounting length of an ISO 15552 profile cylinder, which is why it slots into tight clamping fixtures and guarded stations. A fixed TPU bumper at each end absorbs the end-of-travel shock, and the hard-anodized aluminium body with an S45C hard-chrome rod keeps wear down at 50-500 mm/s. As a practical sizing rule, plan on roughly 178 N of usable pull at 0.5 MPa, which lifts about 15 kg vertically with a 2:1 margin. Note that this model is discontinued: the current-production replacement is the ATE32X25, so confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions before swapping.

Specifications follow the official AirTAC ACP datasheet (now discontinued). The ATE32X25SB (ISO 21287) carries the same bore/stroke/force class; confirm mounting-interface dimensions against the ACE datasheet before installation. Rod type: female thread (blank) or male thread (B). Thread options: PT (blank) / G.
| Pressure | Pull force (spring return) |
|---|---|
| 0.5 MPa | 296.0 N |
| 0.7 MPa | 434.2 N |
Single-acting pull: the spring extends the rod; air retracts it. Forces already net the spring; minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa.
| ATP | DIN compact cylinder (single-acting pull, spring-return, discontinued). |
|---|---|
| 32 | Bore size in mm. |
| ×25 | Stroke length in mm. |
| S | Optional built-in magnet for sensor position sensing (omit for no magnet). |
| B | Rod type: B = male thread; blank = female thread. |
Replacement mapping (swap P for E): ACP→ACE, ASP→ASE, ATP→ATE, ACPD→ACED, ACPJ→ACEJ. ACP-family: ACP (double acting), ASP / ATP (single acting push / pull), ACPD (double rod), ACPJ (adjustable stroke).
The spring holds a small guard or gate raised at rest; a solenoid valve applies air to pull it down over a 25 mm travel, and a power drop returns it safely to open.
With the -S magnet fitted, a DMSE switch confirms the retracted pull position before the machining cycle starts, while the spring keeps the fixture clear when air is off.
Air pulls the pin back to release a stamped bracket; on air loss the spring re-extends the pin, locking the part in place without any control signal.
Size against the job: if 296 N of net pull at 0.5 MPa is more than you need, the 25 mm bore ATP25X25 pulls about 171 N at 0.5 MPa; if you need more, the 40 mm bore ATP40X25 pulls about 500 N at the same pressure. Because the spring returns the rod and no mid-stroke position is held, use it where a normally-extended rest state is wanted. The 25 mm stroke is within the standard range for this bore, the male rod thread (B) suits I/Y knuckles, and FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis mounts bolt to the ISO 21287 face. Order the ATE32X25 as the current drop-in replacement and verify its mounting dimensions first.
Replacement checklist
Net of the return spring, this 32 mm bore model pulls 296 N at 0.5 MPa and 434.2 N at 0.7 MPa. The working range is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and 0.2 MPa is the minimum needed to beat the spring. Speed is 50-500 mm/s, the port is 1/8" (PT), the rod is 12 mm with a male thread, and air must be filtered to 40 um.
Order the ATE32X25, the current-production ISO 21287 successor: swap the P for an E and you get the same 32 mm bore, 25 mm stroke and force class in a matching short body. Because the ATP was DIN-standard, confirm the ISO 21287 mounting dimensions and the -S magnet / CMSE or DMSE switch arrangement before swapping, and check FA/FB flange, LB foot or CA/CB clevis bracket fit.
