The AirTAC MSG40X125S is a single acting, PUSH type JIS round-body mini cylinder with spring return: compressed air extends the 16 mm rod, and when air is released an internal return spring retracts it. With a 40 mm bore and 125 mm stroke it delivers about 439.6 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 690.8 N at 0.7 MPa, figures already net of the return spring. Because air is only supplied on the work stroke, the circuit needs a single air line and one valve port, which saves air and simplifies plumbing for one-way clamp, eject, lift and press duties. The operating window is 0.2 to 1.0 MPa (28 to 145 psi) with a 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof pressure, and speed runs 50 to 800 mm/s.
Construction suits damp and washdown environments: a SUS304 stainless barrel, a hard-chrome plated carbon-steel rod (20 um chrome), riveted covers and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad that softens the stroke ends. Is the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG40X125S the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MSG40X125S when a one-way push of roughly 440 N at 0.5 MPa (690.8 N at 0.7 MPa) and a 125 mm stroke fit the job, and a spring return is acceptable. It is the largest bore in the MSG range (20, 25, 32, 40 mm), so if 439.6 N is more than needed, the MSG32 saves air; if it is marginal, there is no larger MSG and you should move to the double-acting MG. Note the spring sets a 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure, and on air loss the spring simply returns the rod to its retracted rest position, so it does not hold a load. The 150 mm maximum standard stroke is a limit of spring-return travel; for longer or two-way strokes use the MG. Mounting options are LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis and SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles; the fitted magnet accepts CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches.
