About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG40X150
The AirTAC MSG40X150 is a single acting, push type JIS round-body mini cylinder: compressed air extends the 16 mm rod, and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. With the largest bore in the MSG family (40 mm), it delivers about 439.6 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 690.8 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the spring. Because air is applied only on the work stroke, one air line and one valve port are all the circuit needs, which saves air and simplifies plumbing for one-directional clamp, eject, press or lift tasks. The 150 mm stroke is the maximum standard travel for this spring-return design.
Construction is built for duty: a SUS304 stainless barrel with a hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod resists damp and washdown environments, riveted covers keep the round body compact, and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad softens the stroke ends. Note that the bumper only cushions, it does not lock or hold a load; on air loss the spring simply returns the rod. Practical sizing: at 0.5 MPa the push equals roughly 44 kgf, so a safe continuous vertical lift load is about 26 kg using a 0.6 duty factor. Operating pressure is 0.2-1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), speed 50-800 mm/s, and the 1/8" port is identical on every MSG bore. Choose the MSG40X150 when you need the strongest MSG push over the longest standard spring-return travel: 439.6 N at 0.5 MPa (690.8 N at 0.7 MPa) across 150 mm, the top of the MSG range (bores 20, 25, 32, 40). If your load needs more force, move to a larger double-acting cylinder; if the stroke must exceed 150 mm or work in both directions, step to the double-acting MG, since the return spring caps single-acting travel. Remember the 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure set by the spring, and that the rod retracts automatically on air loss. Mounting options are LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis and SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles; order the S suffix to enable CMSG/DMSG/EMSG magnetic sensors, as this model has no magnet fitted.
