About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG40X25S
The AirTAC MSG40X25S is a single acting, PUSH type JIS round-body mini cylinder: compressed air extends the 16 mm rod through a 25 mm stroke, and an internal return spring retracts it the moment air is released. With the largest bore in the MSG family it delivers about 439.6 N of push at 0.5 MPa and 690.8 N at 0.7 MPa, figures already net of the spring. Because air is only supplied on the work stroke, the circuit needs one air line and one valve port, which saves air and simplifies wiring on one-way clamp, eject and press duties. The fitted magnet (S code) allows CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches to be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling.
Practical sizing: at 0.5 MPa a conservative working load is about 60 percent of the net push, roughly 260 N, and for vertical lifting the 439.6 N push equals about 44 kgf, so plan on roughly 22 kg of safe lift once a margin is applied. The SUS304 stainless barrel and hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod stand up to damp and washdown environments, while riveted covers, a two-way lubricant-storing piston seal and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad round out a robust JIS-standard package. Is the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG40X25S the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MSG40X25S when your one-way task needs the strongest MSG push in a short stroke: 439.6 N at 0.5 MPa (690.8 N at 0.7 MPa) over 25 mm. Bore 40 is the top of the MSG range; if that force is more than needed, the MSG32 saves air, and the MSG20 is the smallest. Remember the spring-return design sets a 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure and caps standard strokes at 150 mm, so for a two-directional or longer stroke step up to the double-acting MG instead. On air loss the spring simply returns the rod to its retracted rest position; it does not hold a load. Mounting options are LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis and SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles, and the fitted magnet (S) supports CMSG / DMSG / EMSG position switches.
