About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG40X50S
The AirTAC MSG40X50S is a single acting, push-type JIS round-body mini cylinder: compressed air extends the 16 mm rod through a 50 mm stroke, and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. With the largest bore in the MSG family, it delivers about 439.6 N push at 0.5 MPa and 690.8 N at 0.7 MPa, both figures already net of the spring. Because air is only used on the work stroke, one air line and one valve port are enough, which simplifies the circuit and cuts air consumption for one-way clamping, ejecting or pressing tasks. Operating pressure is 0.2 to 1.0 MPa (28-145 psi), with a 0.2 MPa floor set by the spring, and speed range 50 to 800 mm/s.
Construction is export-grade throughout: a SUS304 stainless barrel with a hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod resists damp and washdown environments, while riveted covers and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad soften the stroke ends. The fitted magnet (S code) allows CMSG, DMSG or EMSG switches to be mounted for end-of-stroke signalling. Applying the usual 0.6 safety factor, plan on roughly 260 N of working force, or about 22 kg for a conservative vertical lift. Choose the MSG40X50S when you need the strongest MSG push in a short stroke: 439.6 N at 0.5 MPa (690.8 N at 0.7 MPa) over 50 mm, net of the return spring. If your load needs less force, the MSG32 saves air; if you need a two-directional or longer stroke (MSG standard strokes stop at 150 mm because of the spring), step up to the double-acting MG. Remember the 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure and that the spring, not air, retracts the rod on exhaust or air loss. The fitted magnet supports CMSG/DMSG/EMSG switches; select LB, FA, CB or SDB mounting and I/Y knuckles to suit your fixture. Port is 1/8" on every MSG bore.
