About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG20X125S
The MSG20X125S is a single acting, push type JIS round-body mini cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 125 mm stroke: compressed air extends the rod and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. Because air is applied only on the work stroke, the circuit needs one air line and one valve port, which saves air and simplifies wiring for one-way clamping, ejecting and pressing tasks. The 109.9 N push at 0.5 MPa is already net of the spring, and at 0.7 MPa it rises to 172.7 N. As a rule of thumb, plan the working load at about 0.6 of the push force, roughly 66 N, or about 5 kg for a safe vertical lift.
Construction is a riveted round body with a SUS304 stainless barrel and a hard-chrome plated 8 mm rod with male M8x1.25 thread, so it resists damp and washdown conditions and drops into standard JIS mini brackets and I/Y knuckles. The 125 mm stroke sits within the 150 mm maximum standard travel that the spring return allows; for a longer or two-directional stroke, step up to the double-acting MG. Is the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG20X125S the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MSG20X125S when a one-way 125 mm stroke with spring return is enough and the load stays under about 66 N (about 5 kg vertical) at 0.5 MPa, or up to 172.7 N push at 0.7 MPa. Bore 20 is the smallest MSG size; if the load exceeds this force class, move to the 25, 32 or 40 mm bore. Note the 0.2 MPa minimum working pressure set by the spring, and remember that on air loss the spring returns the rod to its retracted rest position, so the cylinder does not hold a load in place. The 150 mm maximum standard stroke is a spring-travel limit; for a longer or two-directional stroke use the double-acting MG. Mounting: LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis, SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles. The -S magnet fitted here enables CMSG/DMSG/EMSG position switches; the port is 1/8" on every MSG bore.
