The MSG20X50 is a single acting, push-type JIS round-body mini cylinder: compressed air extends the 8 mm rod over a 50 mm stroke, and an internal return spring retracts it the moment air is released. Because air is only needed on the work stroke, one air line and one valve port are enough, which simplifies the circuit and cuts air consumption for one-directional tasks. Is the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG20X50 the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MSG20X50 when a one-way push of roughly 110 N at 0.5 MPa over a 50 mm stroke is enough and a spring return is acceptable. It is the smallest MSG bore; step up to MSG25, MSG32 or MSG40 for more force, and remember the spring-return design caps the standard stroke at 150 mm. Minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa because the return spring must be overcome. On air loss the spring retracts the rod to rest, so the cylinder does not hold a load in place. If you need a two-directional stroke, longer travel or adjustable cushioning, move to the double-acting MG or MGC instead. Mounting options are LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis and SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles; add -S to fit a CMSG, DMSG or EMSG sensor, and specify G or NPT thread if PT is not wanted.
