About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG20X150
The MSG20X150 is a single acting, push type JIS round-body mini cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 150 mm stroke: compressed air extends the piston rod, and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. Because air is only supplied on the work stroke, the circuit needs one air line and one valve port, which saves air and wiring on one-directional jobs such as clamping, ejecting or light pressing. At 0.5 MPa the net output, already after the return spring, is about 109.9 N of push, rising to about 172.7 N at 0.7 MPa. The spring also sets a minimum working pressure of 0.2 MPa (28 psi), below which the rod cannot be held extended.
Construction follows the JIS mini-cylinder footprint, so it drops into standard JIS brackets and I/Y rod knuckles. The barrel is SUS304 stainless and the 8 mm rod is hard-chrome plated carbon steel (20 um chrome), a combination that resists damp and washdown environments. Covers are riveted and rolled, the piston seal stores lubricant, and a fixed anti-impact bumper pad softens the stroke ends. As a practical sizing rule, plan on roughly 0.6 of the push force for a realistic working load, which is about 66 N, or a safe vertical lift of around 6 kg at 0.5 MPa. The 150 mm stroke is the maximum standard stroke for this bore; a no-S model carries no magnet, so no position sensor can be mounted unless the -S option is ordered.
