About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG20X25S
The MSG20X25S is a single acting, PUSH type JIS round-body mini cylinder with a 20 mm bore and 25 mm stroke: compressed air extends the rod and an internal return spring retracts it when air is released. Because only the work stroke is powered, one air line and one valve port are enough, which saves air and simplifies the circuit for one-way clamping, ejecting or pressing. The 20 mm bore delivers about 109.9 N push at 0.5 MPa and 172.7 N at 0.7 MPa, already net of the return spring, and the spring sets a 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure. As a rule of thumb, size the working load at about 0.6 of the push force, roughly 66 N, which corresponds to a safe vertical lift of about 5 kg.
Construction is a riveted round body with a SUS304 stainless barrel and a hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod, so the cylinder resists damp and washdown environments, and the JIS standard footprint drops into standard JIS mini brackets and I / Y rod knuckles. The S in the model code means a magnet is fitted, so CMSG / DMSG / EMSG switches can be mounted to signal rod position. Spring-return clamping
Air pushes the 109.9 N (at 0.5 MPa) rod forward to clamp a small fixture; when air is released the return spring retracts the rod automatically, so a dropped air line cannot leave the part clamped.
Part ejection
A short 25 mm push ejects a finished small part from a nest or chute on the work stroke, and the spring returns the rod instantly for the next cycle with no second valve port.
Light lid press
The compact 20 mm bore presses a lid or cap onto a container at up to 800 mm/s; the fixed bumper pad softens the stroke end while the spring retracts the tooling between parts.

Choose the MSG20X25S when a 20 mm bore and 25 mm stroke cover the job: it is the smallest MSG bore, giving about 109.9 N push at 0.5 MPa (net of the return spring), so keep the working load near 66 N or lift about 5 kg vertically. Step up to the MSG25 for about 172 N at 0.5 MPa, or to the MSG32 / MSG40 for heavier one-way work. Remember the spring sets a 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure and spring-return travel caps the standard stroke at 150 mm; if you need a longer or two-directional stroke, move to the double-acting MG.
