About the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG25X125S
The AirTAC MSG25X125S is a JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder built as a single acting PUSH unit: compressed air extends the 10 mm rod through a 125 mm stroke, and an internal return spring retracts it the moment air is released. Because only the work stroke is powered, the circuit needs just one air line and one valve port, which saves air and simplifies plumbing for one-way clamping, ejecting and pressing tasks. The 171.8 N push at 0.5 MPa is already NET of the return spring, and the spring sets a 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum working pressure. At 0.7 MPa the output rises to 269.9 N. As a rule of thumb, size the real working load at about 0.6 of that figure, roughly 100 N, or about 8 kg for a safe vertical lift.
Construction suits damp and washdown-prone lines: a SUS304 stainless barrel, a hard-chrome (20 um) carbon-steel rod, riveted rolled covers and a two-way lubricant-storing piston seal. Fixed anti-impact bumper pads soften the stroke ends, but they are not a lock or brake, and on air loss the spring simply returns the rod to its retracted rest position. Spring-return clamping
Air extends the rod to clamp a jig or workpiece; releasing the valve lets the spring retract automatically, so a lost-air fault drops the clamp instead of trapping it.
Part ejection

Is the Airtac MSG Stainless Steel Mini Air Cylinder MSG25X125S the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MSG25X125S when a 125 mm one-way stroke needs about 171.8 N of net push at 0.5 MPa and a spring return is acceptable. The 25 mm bore sits in the middle of the MSG range: bore 20 gives the smallest output, bore 32 and bore 40 deliver more force, and the maximum standard stroke for any MSG bore is 150 mm because spring-return travel is limited. If you need a two-directional stroke or a longer travel, step up to the double-acting MG instead. Note the 0.2 MPa (28 psi) minimum pressure imposed by the spring, and remember that on air loss the spring retracts the rod rather than holding a load. Mount with LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis or SDB pivot brackets, add I or Y rod knuckles as needed, and the fitted magnet accepts CMSG / DMSG / EMSG switches.
