About the Airtac MTG Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MTG25X100
The AirTAC MTG25X100 is a JIS-standard round-body mini cylinder built as a single acting PULL unit: an internal spring holds the rod extended at rest, and compressed air retracts (pulls) the rod on the work stroke. With a 25 mm bore and 100 mm stroke it delivers about 132.6 N of net pull at 0.5 MPa and 215 N at 0.7 MPa, figures already measured after the spring, so what you see is what the rod actually pulls. One air line is all it needs, since air is only consumed on the pull stroke while the spring does the return out, which simplifies plumbing and cuts valve cost on one-way draw, retract, close, and tension motions.
Construction is a riveted SUS304 stainless barrel with a hard-chromed 10 mm rod (male thread M10x1.25) and a 1/8" port on every bore in the series. Operating pressure is 0.2 to 1.0 MPa (28 to 145 psi) with 1.5 MPa (215 psi) proof, air filtered to 40 um, and a speed range of 50 to 800 mm/s. Fixed anti-impact bumper pads soften the stroke ends but do not lock or hold a load: on air loss the spring pushes the rod back out to its extended rest position. For a realistic working pull, budget roughly 0.6 of the rated force, about 80 N, which is a safe vertical load of around 8 kg for this bore. If you need two-way powered travel or a stroke beyond the 150 mm spring-return limit, step up to the double-acting MG series.

Is the Airtac MTG Stainless Steel Mini Cylinder MTG25X100 the Right Cylinder?
Choose the MTG25X100 when your motion is a one-way pull and 132.6 N at 0.5 MPa (about 215 N at 0.7 MPa) covers the load. Bore 20 is the smallest MTG at 84.8 N pull; bore 32 gives 224.8 N and bore 40 gives 339.1 N if you need more. Remember the behaviour: the spring extends the rod, air retracts it, and the minimum working pressure is 0.2 MPa because the spring must be overcome. The spring return caps standard strokes at 150 mm for this bore, so 100 mm is within range; for longer travel or powered return, use the double-acting MG. Mounting options are LB foot, FA flange, CB clevis, and SDB pivot, plus I and Y rod knuckles. Order the -S option if you want position sensing with CMSG, DMSG, or EMSG switches; this non-S model carries no magnet and accepts no sensor.
